12/15/2020: New Medical Cards

In our continuing effort to provide “best in-class services” to all of our participants in the NECA/IBEW Family Medical Care Plan {FMCP), the FMCP has completed work on a brand new claims processing system which will be more efficient, cost-effective and enable the Plan to completely control the claims paying process with no reliance on a third-party system. Effective January 1, 2021, participants’ member ID number will change. This change requires that we send all participants a new medical card which will include their new member ID number. What does this mean to participant? They will continue to use their current medical card until the end of December 2020 and then discard it. Effective January 1, 2021, participants should use the new card for their medical needs. We are providing each participant with two copies ofthe new medical card. Should participants wish to receive additional cards, or have any questions about this change, they can contact our customer service number at 1-877-937-9602. Additionally, we would like to remind all participants that medical telehealth visits through Live Health Online are free for the participant and their covered dependents through calendar year 2021on www.livehealthonline.com or through the Live Health Online app! NOTICE TO RETIREESRECEIVING A NORMAL OR EARLY RETIREMENT PENSION BENEFIT CONCERNING A TEMPORARY RETURN TO WORK AMENDMENT TOTHE PLAN OF BENEFITS FOR THE NEBFThe Trustees of the National Electrical Benefit Fund (NEBF) and the National Employees Benefit Board have approved a temporary Return to Work Amendment to the Plan of Benefits for the NEBF that permits certain eligible retirees to return to covered and contributory employment for a period of time without a loss of pension benefits from the NEBF. Please read the following notice carefully as this amendment does not apply to all retirees or to all electrical employment.As you are aware, the rules of the Plan generally provide for a suspension of benefits for a retiree who returns to employment in the electrical industry for forty (40) or more hours per month. This temporary Return to Work Amendment changes the suspension rules for certain eligible retirees.
